💡 Pro tip
When you hear or see lights and siren, signal and pull to the right edge and stop until the emergency vehicle has fully passed — but if you're in an intersection, clear it first, then pull right (CVC 21806).
Common mistakes to avoid
- Stopping in the middle of the lane instead of pulling to the right.
- Ignoring the siren and continuing to drive.
- Braking suddenly and stopping short in traffic.
