Enroll in and complete a CA DMV-approved driver education program.

Step 2

Get Your Pink Certificate

Your Certificate of Completion (DL 400C) will be mailed to you.

Step 3 — Age 15½ minimum

Take Written Test at DMV

Bring your certificate and pass the CA knowledge test.

  • 46 multiple-choice questions
  • Need 38 correct (83%) to pass
  • Bring: certificate, ID, proof of residency
