Is On Deck Driving CA DMV approved?

On Deck Driving, operated by East Bay Driving School, LLC #E0348, delivers the California DMV-approved OL 236 driver education curriculum — the same 30-hour course required by the DMV for teen drivers. Upon completion, we mail you the official DL 400C Certificate of Completion required to get your instruction permit.

How long does the certificate take to arrive?

We mail your DL 400C Certificate of Completion via USPS within 2 business days of course completion. Allow 3–7 business days total for delivery. You must have the physical certificate at the DMV to get your permit.

Do I need the certificate before visiting the DMV?

Yes — the physical DL 400C certificate is required. The DMV will not issue an instruction permit without it. Make sure you have it in hand before scheduling your DMV visit.

Can I do this on my phone?

Absolutely. On Deck Driving is fully mobile-responsive. Read lessons, take quizzes, and complete practice tests on any device — phone, tablet, or desktop.

How many questions are on the real CA DMV test?

The CA DMV knowledge test has 46 multiple-choice questions. You must answer at least 38 correctly — an 83% passing score. Our 60-question practice sets are designed to exceed the real test so you walk in confident.

What if I don't finish in one session?

Your progress is saved automatically. Sign in on any device and pick up exactly where you left off. Your lesson completions and quiz scores are stored so you never lose progress.
